Veronika Williams

PhD BSc (Hons) RGN

Senior Researcher

I have a background in respiratory nursing and my research focuses on the experiences of people living with a long-term condition (with a particular interest in chronic respiratory disease and older people) and how we can support their self-management and health care needs with a focus on digital health.

My research predominately involves qualitative research methods, but I also have expertise in working on qualitative studies embedded within clinical trials and mixed methods research.

I currently work with Professor John Powell, supporting a number of existing digital health projects, including a randomised trial of an internet-based intervention to promote mental well-being in the general population and a HS&DR funded project on improving NHS Quality Using Internet Ratings and Experiences. I am also an external collaborator on the Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator award project: Life of Breath, (Carel, Bristol & Macnaughton, Durham).

I teach on the HERG qualitative research methods courses and the Msc EBHC and have experience of supervising and examining research students at postgraduate level. I co-supervise DPhil students.

I am an executive member and past treasurer of the British Society of Gerontology .
